You have $100 to spend online in the next hour. How are you going to spend it?
I'm heading to online music and book stores....buy a few books, and spend the rest on CDs. No...wait....i'd buy some books, some CDs, and then go subscribe to be a Club Pogo Member. I love Pogo and have even had free passes to the Club Pogo side of Pogo .... and I love some of the games that are specifically for Club Pogo. They have world class solitaire and so many games that i could go on and on. lol. well, i think that would spend my $100 .... so how 'bout your money? what would you spend the $100 on?

Okay, it's a bit of an odd title for a blog...but i spent most of Saturday watchin' the "Love Comes Softly" movies. It gets a single woman thinkin'...i'd love to be loved like that, love to be in a relationship like that someday. *sigh*
The men i've seen around here are: not my type, too old, not attractive to me (sorry, but let's face it if one is not attractive to another ... a relationship just isn't gonna work. and i don't mean just appearance wise, yeah it works alot better if you like the way someone looks on the outside, but i also mean what's on the inside.), not interested in me, or would rather just make a joke outta me.
Anyway, i'd love to find a man who i'm attracted to both inside and out ... and he would love me for what's on the inside of me. (yeah, you've prolly guessed by now that i'm one of those single overweight women. it's true ... but not exactly by my choice. i did have a boyfriend, Jimmi, we had plans to eventually get married. but on the 1st of February of this year he calls me up - we had a long distance relationship. we'd known each other about 13 years - and says that he can't lead me down the road he was taking ... smoking and drinking. well, rah for him on that one. he also said that he didn't want to change his religious beliefs for me...he wanted to remain in the mormon belief, and attend a mormon church. well, if he knew he didn't want to change from a mormon church to mine, why didn't he say so before we got back together? MEN!!! sometimes i swear i'll never understand them. if he would've told me that he wanted to remain in the mormon church, i would've never put my heart in his hands again.
So now i'm single again, and sorta lookin' for the man that God is gonna send into my life. i'm not looking, i'm waiting for God to send just the right man into my life.
I love Love Stories, i'm a sucker for sweethearts ... the type of guy who does something (like call you just to tell you he loves you and that he's thinking of you) sweet. someone with a sense of humor, someone old fashioned ... would rather he pay for the date than have her spend one cent on the dime (okay, cept maybe on her outfit...lol). i watch a romantic movie like "sleepless in seattle" or "Love Come Softly" or romantic movies like those and i think to myself at the end of the movie, why can't that be me? why can't i be the one with the good looking, sweetheart of a man? and the conclusion i come up with is that the men in my area can't seem to look past the body shape and into the heart. i'm a sweetheart. if i have money i enjoy getting things for my friends and family, or spending it on God (a.k.a. tithing and giving to missions). i do have a cat, Patches, but i've been thinking that after she dies (which shouldn't be anytime soon) i'd like to find myself a nice small dog ... like a short hair dachsund (don't think i spelled that breed name correctly, but i think ya'll know that i meant a weiner dog). LOL! i've always pictured myself being a stay at home mom (or lately a stay at home mom who sells Avon, or Mary Kay, or maybe both). i do want kids after i'm married. maybe i'm having problems finding a man, because i'm just too picky. but oh well, i have my standards and i won't go below them for any man. i'm looking for a man between the ages of 26 - 36 (5 years younger to 5 years older than i am), he can't smoke or drink, no children, never been married before (see, i told ya' i was a picky one). he has to either already attend an Assembly of God church, or has to be willing to change to my church. (i won't change church affiliations...i'm not gonna change from AoG to a mormon or a catholic church. i just won't do it. i've seen what both religions are like...and they are no where near the attitude of the church i currently attend ~ Central Assembly of God).
Anyway, getting back to the post at hand ... LOL! why can't it be me that finds herself her prince charming? i'm every bit as female as my sister .... and she's married to a great guy, happily ... and they have an almost 2 month old baby. i don't like to admit this but with every couple oriented holiday (valentine's day, christmas, new year's, etc.) and as every year goes by, i start to think of myself as just a blob of a female. something that's just there, that nobody wants ... well, 'cept her family and friends. but as much as i enjoy the time i spend with my friends and family, i'd like to share some of my time with a significant other. a good looking guy, that's sweet on me. as christina aguilera sang on her first album, "i wanna be somebody's somebody....". *sigh* but nobody seems to want to be my special someone. so i sit here kinda broken hearted, and kinda hopeful that the next day might bring that man (the one God has intended me to spend the rest of my life with) into my life. and hopeful that we'll hit it off right away. *sigh*
Oh well, a girl can dream ... can't she? well, i think i've talked enough here today....i'll go for now, and try to be back here sooner than a month to post another entry. (hopefully the next one won't sound so "poor pitiful me", but more in a happier mood). well, 'til next post ...

After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
Well, I enjoy watching American Idol, but since this season is over it's on to other shows. America's Got Talent, Last Comic Standing, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?, Monday Night Raw, ECW, SmackDown, - (well, when i remember to actually watch them ... i usually end up watching my WWE wrestling shows on my friend's DVR when i spend the weekend with her). I also watch Nascar and NFL football (college doesn't really interest me) ... Go St. Louis Rams!!!! i cheer for: Elliott Sadler, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, J.J. Yeley, Denny Hamlin, Scott Riggs.
anyway, back to the shows ... LOL. i'm kinda interested in the new show coming soon to NBC ... Age Of Love. it looks good, (i'll be cheering for the cougars, i'm not in my 40s ... i'm in my 30s ... but from some of the previews the women in their 20s seem obnoxious. well, we'll see ... if i can remember to watch it....LOL)!
i also like some of the Animal Planet shows, Emergency Vet, Animal Cops, etc.
well, that's about all the tv i'm currently interested in watching .... so i'll go for now and continue going through my CD collection. trying to weed out ones i don't want or no longer listen to. once i finish, i may post the list of CDs i'm getting rid of here on my Vox Blog. (but that's another entry ... lol).

hey all,
well, it's pretty obvious that i had some time on my hands. a new look, some new info about me (a book list - of books i've read), and i figured while i'm at it ... i'd compose a new blog entry.
these aren't the only changes ... i've had some changes happen in my life as well. earlier this month i finished a baby blanket ... one that was requested of me to make ... for payment. phew! finally! LOL! during this month (of May) i've had to call in to see if i had to report to the local courthouse (as part of a possible jury). the first time i called in was April 30th (last day of April), they said that my panel did not need to report to the courthouse. cool! one call in down, a few more to go. then i was supposed to call in that friday (May 4th) after 5pm (CST), but i forgot to call ... but called in the next day (Saturday, May 5th), and learned that my panel again did not have to report to the courthouse. alright! two down and still a few more to go. as far as i can recall, it was another call in on friday. this time i remembered, and my panel didn't have to report. okay, now only about two more times to call in and then i know i'll be free. On the next call in day, after 5pm (CST), i learned that the panel i was on had to report to the courthouse Tuesday, May 22nd at 8:30am.
okay, i'm not sure how it's broken down everywhere else ... this was my first jury summons since getting my driver's license and being a registered voter. but here in iowa they break us down into five panels; and i ended up in panel three. panel three was to be at the courthouse and signed in by 8:30am (CST). i got there probably a little bit before 8am (CST), waited for the gal to get ready and then after a couple of guys had signed in it was my turn. i signed in, and then headed downstairs (where they had all of us go after signing in). after sitting down there for awhile, someone finally came in and started the day's proceedings....going through jury information, and showed us the Iowa Jury video. after that was over the guy let us take a bathroom/smoke break. i went ahead and took advantage of the bathroom break ... deciding to do so after the head guy told us that once we were in the courtroom we wouldn't have the bathroom break. after a few minutes we headed upstairs to the second floor. (like an idiot i decided like most of the panel to go up the stairs -the whole way! UGH! Never Again! you prolly can't see it in my picture, but i am overweight ... this idea felt like it was gonna kill me. so once i found a bench to sit on, i sat down and let my heartrate and breathing slow down. well, a few minutes after my heartrate and breathing returned to normal i was still waiting outside the courtroom. a few minutes later, they called panel 3 into the courtroom. we all took a seat on the benches in the back, and then waited for the first 26 names to be called. i was the 4th name that was called. okay, so i had a seat in the jury box ... there was still a possibility that i could be excused. after they'd called the first 26 names, that the computer randomly picked, the judge started asking the 26 questions ... if anyone knew anyone on a list of witnesses. and then it was the prosecutions turn to ask the 26 questions. ....wait, first i believe the judge let us go for a lunch break and then it was the prosections turn to ask questions. then the defense asked the 26 questions. after all that was over, we went out to the hallway and once again waited. when we were called back in, we were allowed to talk amongst ourselves but we had to stay in our seats. the reason we were allowed to talk amongst ourselves is cuz at this point the attorneys were passing the list back and forth crossing off 12 names - 6 names a piece. once they were finished they handed it to the judge and then he handed it to the court attendant, to let her read off the 14 (12 + 2 alternates) names that were selected for the jury. she read the first name, phew...not mine. she read the second name, phew ... not mine. she read the third name, dang! i was the third name called for the 14 chosen.
okay, now back to the blog.
the court case went a total of 5 days. we did jury selection on tuesday, may 22nd ... and then started the actual court case the following day ... wednesday, may 23rd. we came back thursday and friday, and then had a 3 day weekend - thanks to Memorial Day on monday. we came back for closing arguments, jury stuff from the judge, and then deliberations. we, the 12 jurors, took only a few minutes to reach our verdict. we actually had to wait for lunch get there, eat and finish eating, and then we went back into the courtroom. our foreman, after the judge told him to do so, stood up and stated his name. then walked over and handed the judge our verdict. he read it to himself and then read it aloud to the court. this guy was up for 3 charges: Serious Injury by Automobile -- Thomas ------, Serious Injury by Automobile -- Amanda --------, Operating A Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated (OWI). we found the guy ... on all three charges ..... guilty of OWI. we let out around 1pm, so i headed back to my friend's house to relax for about 45 minutes.
after that i got my stuff together ... as i've been staying over at my friend's house while i had jury duty .... and then headed to my mom's (and my friend's) place of employment. about a block away i missed a call from my mom, so i called her back. she asked where i was, and i told her ... she told me that that was good cuz my sister was going to be having her C-Section at 3pm that day. so i put my things in the trunk of the car and head into the hospital (Mercy Medical Center). we finally got up there (to the baby floor), and found the room that they put her in. and waited for them to take the daddy into the c-section room. well, after awhile they took daddy into the room and showed my sister's best friend up to the observatory room. the ones left in the room could hear the baby before we got to see her....she's a loud one. LOL! My first niece; Katherine Kay, weighed 8 lbs., 15 oz., and was 22 in. long. here let me show you my beautiful niece:
well, that's about all for this month (May). hopefully i'll talk to ya'll June ... hopefully more times than just 2.... LOL!
Hey all, how's everyone doin'? good i hope, i've been alright...just been a busy lil' bee. i'm still trying to finish one baby blanket for someone. i still have letters to write, i really should work on my websites: Mango Dreams and Reneez Realm, and update that site ... but with the crochet projects i have lined up, and with my dad currently in the hospital and headed for the rehab department of a nursing home, my concerns and crafts have most of my time. i'm trying to squeeze in some things (multi-tasking) tonight. i'm talking with one of my friends, and letter writing. i finished cropping pictures to send a couple people (through snail mail), and have moved on to writing letters. once i get all caught up on my letters i'll probably throw myself into finishing that baby blanket; it's for someone that my mom works with, the lady requested it 'cuz she knows someone who's having a baby. i'm hoping to be finished with it before the weekend of the 19th of this month. i only have 6 rows left after i finish the row i'm currently on, plus one row of border. so, hopefully i can get it done. then i have baby blocks to make for my sister, and i also have another baby blanket in the works for her baby.... but that's suppose to be a surprise, so i won't go into it until after it's finished and it's been revealed to my sister and her daughter. (yep, my sister and her husband are going to have a girl. yeah! all i really wanted though is what all of us want....a healthy baby!).
Well, now that you know why you haven't seen any updates to Mango Dreams (no new wallpapers, no new websets for awhile). i'll leave ya'll alone to browse through what i have here, and i'll blog again when i have more time ... or when my friend reminds me to blog. LOL ... whichever happens first.
Hugz & Prayerz,
LaShawn
hey all! thought i'd explain ...briefly...about the look of my page. as you can tell i love cats! but the reason i chose the cat theme that i did, is 'cuz the cat on the theme reminds me some of one of my past cats....one i shared with my sister, his name was tiger and he was a male red tabby cat. Tiger was about 17 years old when he died, but i still miss the loveable cuss. LOL! i'll have to find and post a picture of him, so ya'll can see the cat i'm talking about. =0)
well, not much else to talk about now as it's late and there are still things i want to do on the internet before i go to bed. LOL! so talk to ya'll next time.

LaShawn
